A Springfield woman who began lobbying against gun violence after her son was shot to death in 2002 was arrested last week when police allegedly found an illegal gun and drugs in her home.

Annette "Flirty" Stevens, however, said Monday she's innocent, and the arrest is an attempt by police to get her to give up information about unsolved crime in the city.

Michael Moore's Bodyguard Arrested on Airport Gun Charge
Posted by: Admin on Thursday, January 20, 2005 - 05:03 AM
Gun News NEW YORK — Filmmaker Michael Moore's (search) bodyguard was arrested for carrying an unlicensed weapon in New York's JFK airport Wednesday night.

Police took Patrick Burke, who says Moore employs him, into custody after he declared he was carrying a firearm at a ticket counter. Burke is licensed to carry a firearm in Florida and California, but not in New York. Burke was taken to Queens central booking and could potentially be charged with a felony for the incident.

Moore's 2003 Oscar-winning film "Bowling for Columbine" criticizes what Moore calls America's "culture of fear" and its obsession with guns.

Olympic Arms Whitney Wolverine
Posted by: Admin on Sunday, October 31, 2004 - 01:56 PM
Gun Products Here it is again. At Olympic Arms we've been touting the return of the Whitney Wolverine pistol for years, and here it is to begin shipping in late 2004. Not flood, fire, nor earthquake could keep this pistol from seeing the light of manufacturing day. The original Whitney Wolverine pistols first went into production in 1956. They were a huge hit with consumers. The radical 'space age' design was ergonomic on the hand, and pointed quite well for most shooters. With new technology in cast aluminum available after WWII, the Wolverine was a very lightweight and strong handgun. It's shape alone attracted many consumers. Read more... (about 220 words)

Springfield Honors Gen. Franks with one-of-a-kind firearms
Posted by: Admin on Sunday, October 31, 2004 - 08:43 AM
Gun Products TAMPA, FL - Springfield Armory recently honored Four-Star General Tommy Franks with two one-of-a-kind Springfield firearms.

Gen. Franks served as Commander in Chief, United States Central Command from June, 2000 until his retirement August 1, 2003. He commanded Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.

"Gen. Franks is a truly great American. He has done so much for all of us in the battle against terror." Springfield Co-Chairman of the Board Dennis Reese said. "We feel that by honoring him, in some way we honor all the other great Americans that have served under him."

The guns presented were embellished versions of two of the hottest new firearms in the industry, Springfield's Micro-Compact 45-caliber pistol and the new SOCOM 16 version of their M1A rifle. Both bear Frank's name, four gold stars, custom serial numbers and other embellishments. The Springfield M1A is the civilian version of the military's M-14, which was issued to Gen. Franks when early in his military career.

Reese said that he hopes the elegant appearance of these custom guns will not keep Gen. Franks from getting full enjoyment out of them. "Don't let the beautiful exteriors fool you," he said. Underneath it all, they are Springfields, and that means they were made to be shot."

Gen. Franks was truly impressed with the new additions to his firearms collection. "Abosolutely beautiful," he said. "I've loved you guys for years, and now I know why."

Crime may be dropping in US, but gun possession is rising
Posted by: Admin on Sunday, October 31, 2004 - 08:41 AM
Gun News WASHINGTON -- Early in the summer of 2003, two Baltimore police officers patrolling near Lexington Market saw 24-year-old Michael Awosika pull a sawed-off shotgun from some nearby bushes and stuff it down his pants.

The police chased him through downtown Baltimore, collared him, and then went back to find the shotgun, which he had ditched as he fled.

The officers arrested him, booked him, and put him in jail. But the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives and the US Justice Department took the credit, after federal prosecutors arranged a plea agreement on federal charges.
