Would-Be Burglars Hit Wrong House - San Antonio

Two would-be burglars picked the wrong house on Monday. The owner was inside asleep, and armed.
The men broke into what they thought was an empty home on the northeast side.
"He heard them bust a window from the back. It piqued his interest and he was waiting in the bedroom," said Sergeant Pat Michalec.
He was waiting with a large handgun. When police arrived, they found the homeowner had the suspect right where he wanted him. "They did find the homeowner holding one of the suspects inside the house at gunpoint," said Michalec. The other ran away after the homeowner opened fire. "It's unknown if the other suspect was hit," said Michalec. Michael Belcher saw him. "It may have looked like he was limping or something. He kept looking back down this way," said Belcher. Meanwhile, police took the suspect to jail. No charges will be filed against the homeowner. While police investigate the burglary, neighbors say there are a lot of suspicious things that took place a week ago. Someone came to Jim Blonde's home to sell him a home alarm. "I didn't know if he was just wanting to see if I had an alarm system, or what they were trying to do," said Blonde. And Mandy Palm says on Sunday she noticed someone walking back and forth. "He had walked by, and then he was walking back towards that way, and when we left we couldn't even figure out where he went to," said Palm. After what happened on Monday, Mandy says she'll talk with her neighbors about forming a watch group.http://www.woai.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=9AFDBFC6-137E-4F4D-B040-A4D2A80F02E5
